PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joel Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Vine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silver comes to the cage accompanied by My Eyes O.O. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joel Silver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean Vine!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver misses with a jab to the body

and Vine counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Vine.
Silver jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vine walks away with a smile on his face. Silver gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Silver stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Silver wants it to stay on the feet.
Silver misses with a low kick.
Horrible takedown by Silver or perhaps it was just good defense by Vine which made him look bad.

Vine pushes Silver up against the cage in a clinch.
Vine has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Silver after a bit of a struggle.

Vine breaks from the clinch.
Silver blocks a head kick by Vine.
Silver fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joel Silver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Silver shoots in and bounces Vine off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Silver drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Vine dives on top into guard.
Vine slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Silver struggling a bit here.
Silver gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Still in half guard, Vine seems content to control.
Silver regains full guard. Nicely done.

Silver lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Vine!
Silver looking to control but Vine is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Vine is working to get back to half guard.
Vine wants to hold on but Silver pushes him away.

Silver moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Vine has worked his arm free - good work by Vine!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Silver tries for a kimura but Vine is defending well.

Silver tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Silver tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Vine tries to bench press Silver off him but Silver keeps the position.
Silver working away.
Silver is looking to take a break and control but Vine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vine wants to control but Silver postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Silver tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Vine can't do much from the bottom here.
Vine is trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vine tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Vine rolls, trying to escape but Silver keeps control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joel Silver will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Vine's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Silver throws a low kick but it's checked well by Vine.

Vine takes the fight into the clinch.
Vine dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Silver jumps guard but Vine stands there with Silver around his waist. Silver gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Vine gets control of Silver's arms and successfully pulls guard. Vine will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Silver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vine swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Vine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silver doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silver manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Silver wants to control from the top but Vine keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vine is looking to stand up but Silver isn't so interested in that idea.

Silver drops back looking for a leg! Vine is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vine manages to kick Silver off! Silver jumps back into Vine's guard.
Vine looking for a sweep. Not yet Vine, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vine is striking but Silver is not phased and passes to half guard.

Silver maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Vine could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Silver has cracked it and Vine is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Silver!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joel Silver!
