PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tsa Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Martin's choice of entrance music: Smells like Teen Spirit . Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tsa Rock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 1, fighting out of London, Dustin Martin!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin throws a sloppy head kick and Rock moves out of range easily.
Martin feints and then cracks Rock's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rock down.
We've been told by Rock's head coaches at Sensei Sens's & co. Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Martin forces Rock back against the cage and clinches.
Rock working aggressively here.
Rock doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Martin told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

It looks like Tsa Rock has been cut.
Martin lands a right hand.
Rock has a couple of punches blocked by Martin.
Rock misses with an elbow strike.
Martin misses with a short punch on the inside.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Martin.

Rock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rock throws a low kick, looking for Martin's leg but Martin calmly moves out of range.

Rock throws a jab but it's blocked by Martin.

and Martin counters with a nice body kick.
Rock throws the left hand but Martin avoids the punch easily.

Martin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Rock.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Martin counters with a thumping low kick.

A telegraphed right hand from Rock misses the target.

Rock misses with a hook. Martin ducked under it nicely.

and Rock counters with a right hand to the body.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Martin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Rock scores with a sloppy right hand. Martin should have avoided that one.
Martin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Rock avoids the body shot from Martin.
A low kick from Martin misses
and Rock counters with a stiff right hand.
Rock slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Rock lunges at Martin with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Martin's hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Martin throws a leg kick that misses.
Martin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Rock is out of range and Martin settles back down.
Rock staying out of range there.

Martin misses with a looping right.
Martin moves out of range of the strikes.
Rock lands with a nice body punch.
Rock misses with a straight left.
Martin shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Rock throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rock swings away with a body shot that misses
and Martin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Martin throws a looping overhand right but Rock ducks down to avoid it.
Rock throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Martin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Rock takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rock moves out of range as Martin throws a body kick.
Rock throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Martin.
Rock goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Rock throws a leg kick
and Martin counters with a left to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tsa Rock will probably get the nod.

Martin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Rock bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Rock throws a nice looking combination but Martin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rock uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Martin.
Rock shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
A solid body kick from Martin.
Rock misses with a left hand
and Martin counters with a leg kick.
Rock tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rock scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Martin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rock's hands.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Martin misses with a few strikes there.
Dustin Martin seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Martin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rock, pushing him back against the cage.
Rock has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Martin lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Rock or not.
Still in the clinch, Rock scores with a nice short uppercut.
Rock is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Rock managing to block the knees to the body from Martin.
Martin lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Martin working aggressively here.
Martin lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Rock backwards.


Tsa Rock's cut is getting worse.
Martin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Martin lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Rock breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rock misses with a straight right.
Rock looks to score with a jab to the body but Martin is just out of range.
Martin misses with an uppercut.
Martin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rock moves away.
Rock lands a two punch combo.
Rock takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Martin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Martin misses with a head kick.
Rock punishes Martin's body with a nice straight punch.
Rock swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Rock looks for the body kick but Martin saw that one coming.
Martin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rock has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rock lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Rock lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Martin circles away quickly and effectively.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tsa Rock's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Rock wants to break the clinch but can't.

Martin keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rock's efforts to push away.

After winning the bout, Dustin Martin thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
