PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hannu Yabal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junjun Tare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yabal comes to the cage accompanied by New Divide, Linkin Park. Hannu Yabal had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hannu Yabal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Junjun Tare!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tare is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Yabal.
Tare's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Tare duly obliges.
Tare tries to clinch but Yabal moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Tare or perhaps it was just good defense by Yabal which made him look bad.
Tare is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tare takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Yabal lands a nice shot to the body.
Tare fails in his attempt to clinch.
Yabal shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Yabal throws a head kick that misses.
Tare misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Yabal thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Tare if he has to take too many more of those.

Yabal closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tare to the mat! Tare manages to get full guard.
Yabal lands a couple of elbows.
Yabal stopping the sweep attempt from Tare.
Yabal sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tare's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Yabal seems to be working for a kimura but Tare defends the submission attempt.
Yabal passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Tare!
Tare is squirming around, avoiding Yabal's attempts to control the action.

Yabal is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tare has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Tare is trying desperately to improve position.
Tare wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yabal lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yabal with a couple of short strikes.
Tare working to try and regain half guard.
Tare is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Yabal prevents Tare from getting the reversal.

Yabal has hold of Tare's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tare manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Tare taking shots to the head.
Yabal is breathing heavily.
Yabal looking to finish Tare with some ground and pound. This is bad for Tare!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Yabal swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Tare is now in Yabal's guard. A big mistake from Yabal there, giving up the dominant position!

Yabal is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Yabal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tare doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tare manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Tare wants to stand but Yabal is controlling his posture from full guard.

Tare gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Yabal looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Tare is looking to stand up but Yabal isn't so interested in that idea.
Yabal trying to control the position from guard on top but Tare is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Tare pushes Yabal off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Tare swinging wilding here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yabal scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Yabal is keen to just control but Tare is a slippery customer.
Yabal throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hannu Yabal dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Tare shoots in for a takedown but Yabal shows good takedown defense.
Yabal dodges the punch combination from Tare.

Tare gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hannu Yabal overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Yabal passes Tare's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Yabal in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Tare tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Yabal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Hannu Yabal!
