PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Rad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rad comes into the arena with Liberation Frequency blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Tony Goldman enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyle Rad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tony Goldman!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rad closes the distance and clinches.
Rad lands an elbow inside that Goldman shrugs off.
Rad manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Goldman blocks an elbow strike from Rad.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Rad just misses with a elbow thrown towards Goldman's brow.
Goldman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Rad lands a left hand that snaps the head of Goldman backwards.
Rad throws an elbow but it misses.
Goldman wants a takedown but no success here.

Rad manages to break the clinch.

Rad content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Goldman tries for a takedown but Rad manages to get underhooks.
Kyle Rad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Goldman.

Goldman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rad trying to hold on to Goldman's head to control him but Goldman postures up.
Rad manages to get to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Goldman works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Rad wants to get back to full guard.

Goldman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Goldman prevents Rad from improving his position.
Rad wants to control but Goldman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Rad keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Goldman is trying to control the action in half guard but Rad is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Goldman seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rad manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Goldman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Rad dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Goldman fails with the takedown
and Rad counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Goldman shoots in but no luck this time.
Rad chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Goldman shoots in looking for a takedown. Rad tries to sprawl out of it but Goldman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rad manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kyle Rad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Goldman.
Goldman shoots and misses
and Rad counters with a thumping low kick.

Rad darts in and clinches Goldman up against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rad creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Rad throws a punch but it's blocked by Goldman.
Rad is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Rad's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Goldman takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

That's one minute gone in the round.

A head kick lands from Rad that sends Goldman to the canvas. Goldman tries to scramble back to his feet but Rad brings him back down into side control.


Goldman is rocked!
Rad tries to move into full mount but can't pass Goldman's legs.
Goldman is still in real trouble! Can Rad finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rad is looking to take a break and control but Goldman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Goldman seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goldman tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rad trying to control the action but Goldman is working from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Goldman is being controlled here.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kyle Rad just wasn't active enough.
Goldman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rad counters with a leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Goldman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rad but Rad pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Goldman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Goldman has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Goldman misses with a takedown
and Rad counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Rad sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Goldman to the ground! Rad dives into full mount looking to finish!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Goldman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Rad dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Rad! Goldman is out on his feet! Rad rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Goldman is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Goldman is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kyle Rad!
During a confident post fight interview, Kyle Rad thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
