St Pierre comes into the arena with Ca Fait Mal blaring out of the sound system. Ronan comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Pierre misses with a head kick.
Ronan catches St Pierre with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
It looks like Georges St Pierre has been cut. St Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ronan paws at him with a jab and circles away. St Pierre closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. St Pierre tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
St Pierre using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Ronan has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
St Pierre is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. St Pierre just leaning against Ronan, taking a breather. Ronan works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Ronan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed St Pierre's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! St Pierre has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ronan is working away from the top position though. St Pierre looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Ronan with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre tries to get to full guard but Ronan has control of the leg. Ronan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
