Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Van Pol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Van Pol!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Spencer!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spencer connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Pol throws a head kick that misses.
Spencer ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Spencer crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Pol - the referee stops the clock and Spencer gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Pol. Spencer manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pol.

Spencer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pol.

Spencer tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pol defends well and Spencer ends up having to push Pol into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Pol looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Pol moves forwards but Spencer connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Spencer is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pol's half guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Van Pol.
I think Spencer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
