Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Alva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guillermo Espada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alva comes to the ring accompanied by Viking Death march-billy talent. Espada has chosen Greedy Fly as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Demian Alva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Guillermo Espada! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alva fails to land with a series of punches.
Alva takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Alva misses the jab. A shot to the liver by Espada. Beautiful body shot. Espada throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Alva counters with a nice double leg into guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Espada wants to stand and escape but Alva is having none of it. Alva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Espada wants to get back to his feet but Alva is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Alva throws a big elbow that misses. Alva passes Espada's left leg - he's now in half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Espada is trying to stand back up but Alva is controlling him
Alva missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Espada tries to kick Alva off but Alva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Alva wants to pass the guard but Espada is defending well. Alva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Alva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alva uses his free foot to push down on Espada's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Espada. Alva has control of Espada's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Espada regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Espada is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Alva wants to take his opponent's back but Espada doesn't allow it. Espada really wants to buck Alva off and get back to his feet. Alva unloads with some shots from mount but Espada bucks and avoids them well.

Alva wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Alva lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Espada trying desperately to get to his feet.
Alva unloads with some shots from mount but Espada bucks and avoids them well.
Espada bucks up and throws Alva to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Espada displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Demian Alva has been cut. Espada connects with a good right hand that stumbles Alva. Alva circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Left hook, right uppercut from Espada. Alva throws a shot from downtown. Espada moves away and avoids it. Alva has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Alva is rocked! Espada throws a right hand that Alva ducks under and follows up with a left that Alva also avoids with ease. Espada lands a glancing blow to the side of Alva's head. Espada changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Espada throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Alva loads up on a big right hand but Espada slips the punch. Espada defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alva.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alva takes one on the button. A combination from Espada does no damage. Espada works Alva's body with a nice hook. Espada lands a nice hook to Alva's body. Alva takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Alva is breathing heavily. Espada connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Alva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Espada circles away. Alva takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Espada fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Espada dips to his left and cracks Alva with an uppercut! Alva walks into a jab. Espada fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Espada dips to his left and cracks Alva with an uppercut! Espada is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Alva rather than just go for the knockout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alva takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Oh Alva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Espada is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Alva hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Guillermo Espada! Our winner, Guillermo Espada, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
