Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Souza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Pigskin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pigskin pinned against the cage. Pigskin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Souza fails to land the takedown.
Souza does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Pigskin scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like Jake Souza has been cut.
Pigskin tries to work over Souza's front leg with a kick but Souza checks it.
Souza uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pigskin.
Pigskin stuffs the takedown attempt from Souza. Souza gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Souza. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Souza looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pigskin is fending him off so far but Souza persists. Nope, Pigskin circles away and we're back to standing.
Pigskin has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
A nice inside leg kick there by Pigskin. That's going to slow Souza down.
Pigskin thumps Souza with a low kick.
Pigskin lands a jab to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Souza swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pigskin scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Souza fails to land the takedown.
Pigskin misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pigskin tries to sprawl but Souza drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Souza not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Souza is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Pigskin is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
