PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Archer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bartholomew Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roach has chosen The Simpsons Theme Song as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aaron Archer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bartholomew Roach!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Archer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
No joy there for Roach, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Roach lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Roach misses with a series of wild punches.
Roach fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Archer with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Archer walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Roach checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Roach thows a body shot but no joy.
Roach lands a leg kick that knocks Archer off balance momentarily.
Archer throws a jab when Roach was well out of range.
A slow jab from Archer misses its intended target.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roach on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Archer. Archer obviously looking to wear him down.
Roach avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
The fighters circle momentarily. Roach darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Archer feints and as Roach raises his hands in defense, Archer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Roach is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Archer defends well.

Archer is working Roach over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Archer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Archer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Roach connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Archer takes a kick to the side of the head.
Archer swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Roach misses with a hook. Archer ducked under it nicely.
Roach fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Good work by Roach as he checks the leg kick.
Roach slips a straight right by Archer.
Archer fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Roach checks it well.
Roach avoids the body shot from Archer.

and Archer takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Archer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Roach.
Roach looks to land a right hand but Archer moved out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nice straight punches there by Roach. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Roach.
Archer darts in looking for a takedown but Roach gets double underhooks and turns Archer into the cage.

Archer is rocked!

Oh Archer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Archer seems to have got his legs back now.
Archer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Roach is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Archer.
A left hand lands to the body for Archer.
A short right from Roach on the inside.
Archer tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Roach's elbow.

Roach misses with a hook to the ribs.
Roach is looking to control Archer's arms but Archer gets an underhook and turns him. Now Roach has his back to the cage.

Archer goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Archer swings away with an uppercut that misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Archer lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Roach or not.
Roach lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Archer doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Roach scores with a nice hook to the head.
Archer misses with a shot to the kidneys.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Aaron Archer will probably get the nod.
That's time! Archer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Roach counters with a nice body kick.
A punch lands to the side of Archer 's head but he takes it in his stride.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Archer throws an overhand right that lands on Roach's shoulder, as Roach tries to avoid the shot.
Roach keeps Archer at a distance using the push kick.
Roach scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Roach.

Roach lands a left and a right that send Archer crashing to the mat, dazed. Roach thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Roach lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Archer - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Roach!

After winning the bout, Bartholomew Roach thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
