The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ballard moves into the clinch.

Molotov closes the distance and clinches up with Ballard, looking for a takedown. Molotov pushes Ballard against the cage but Ballard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ballard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Molotov but Molotov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Molotov connects with a body shot that sends Ballard's belly button to the back.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ballard.
Molotov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ballard dives in for a single leg takedown but Molotov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Molotov wants to break the clinch but can't.
Molotov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ballard uses from the top position.

Molotov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ballard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ballard shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

My spies in Cozad MMA St Petersburg inform me that Ballard has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Molotov looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Ballard! Submission of the night perhaps?
