Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andy Ry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Foster Ramqua!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ramqua moves away.
Ramqua slaps away a takedown attempt from Ry, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ry closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ry lands in his opponent's guard.
Ry tries to free his leg and advance position but Ramqua is retaining full guard.
Ramqua wants to stand and escape but Ry is having none of it.

Ry with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ramqua wants to sweep but no luck.
Ry has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ramqua is proving hard to escape from.
Ry stands and steps away. Ramqua gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ry drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Ry postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ry pushing down on Ramqua's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Ramqua wants to get back to full guard but Ry has mounted him!

The referee warns Ramqua that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ramqua wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ry controlling the position well here. Ramqua rolled but Ry kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Ry seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ramqua for as long as he can get away with.
Ry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ry is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Ry gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Ry gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Ry apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Ramqua wants to clinch up but Ry keeps it at a distance.

and Ramqua counters with an outside leg kick.

Ramqua throws a right hand that misses
and Ry counters with a left and a right that stings Ramqua.
Ry tries for a takedown but Ramqua sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ry tries to clinch but Ramqua moves out of range.
Ry shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ramqua as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Ry. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ry shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ramqua counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ramqua.
Ramqua lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Ry is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Ry tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Ry stalling in the clinch but Ramqua improves position.
Ramqua is trying to drag Ry to the mat but Ry just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.

Ry drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ramqua pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Ramqua. No joy for Ry on that attempt.
Ry shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ramqua sprawls well. Ramqua wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ry gets slowly back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ramqua fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ry to the ground. Ramqua is now in Ry's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ry looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ramqua has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ramqua connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ry's face.
Ramqua gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ry.
Ramqua manages to pull guard.
Ry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ramqua tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Ramqua is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ry is aware though and is defending well.
Ry is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ramqua can do anything to dispel that myth.
