PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rafinha Capoeira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Montferrand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montferrand has chosen Big Joe Mufferaw as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joseph Montferrand!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montferrand will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Capoeira takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Montferrand keeps the fight on the outside.
Capoeira throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight stays on the outside here - Capoeira looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Montferrand misses with the combination.
Montferrand throws a right and a left that both miss.
Capoeira takes a swing at Montferrand's ribcage but misses.

Montferrand dives in and scores a takedown into Capoeira's guard.
Capoeira is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Montferrand is controlling him.
Montferrand postures up in Capoeira's guard and throws a big left but Capoeira blocks it.
Montferrand stays in close to Capoeira's body and controls the position.
Montferrand told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Capoeira wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Capoeira swings wildly with an uppercut but Montferrand uses good head movement to avoid it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A left lands for Montferrand.

Capoeira stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Capoeira wants it to stay on the feet.
Montferrand tries to bum rush Capoeira with a series of wild strikes but Capoeira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rafinha Capoeira is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Montferrand misses with a few strikes there.
Montferrand throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Capoeira counters with a left and a right that stings Montferrand.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Sloppy strikes from Montferrand. Those never looked like landing.

enabling Capoeira to counter with a crisp jab.

Capoeira closes the distance and clinches.

Capoeira lands a big right hand that drops Montferrand! The killer instinct kicks in and Capoeira finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Capoeira!

After winning the bout, Rafinha Capoeira thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
