Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Tim Barry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Wayne! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wayne connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Nice uppercut there from Wayne. Barry has his takedown stuffed and Wayne counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Barry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Barry shoots in for a takedown but Wayne shows good takedown defense. Barry shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wayne sprawls well. Wayne wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barry gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Barry. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barry walks into a straight right hand from Wayne. Wayne keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Barry drives through and clinches with Wayne against the cage.
Barry is working for takedown but Wayne is calmly controlling the position for now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Barry gets a trip takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Barry slips a nice elbow through Wayne's hands, connecting with Wayne's forehead. Barry missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Wayne avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Barry. Wayne pushes Barry off looking to stand but Barry dives back in and keeps control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Barry moves nicely into side control. Barry advances nicely into full mount. Barry is landing with some decent strikes but Wayne is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Barry scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Wayne?
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wayne can do anything to dispel that myth. Wayne looks winded! A nice elbow there by Barry. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Barry scoring with strikes but Wayne is staying in there.
Wayne is rocked! A big strike lands for Barry! That's really hurt Wayne and he's turned his back - Barry keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Barry jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tim Barry!
