Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michel Boyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michel Boyd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Marshall! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marshall has a takedown stuffed. Marshall moves into range and clinches up with Boyd. Boyd has Marshall pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Boyd pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Marshall tumbling to the mat - Boyd dives into Marshall's guard. Boyd lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Boyd is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Boyd wants to pass the guard but Marshall is keeping the position. Marshall is looking for a triangle but Boyd pushes his legs off easily.
Marshall can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Boyd controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marshall has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boyd can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Boyd wanted to stand there but Marshall had control of the position. Boyd wants to pass the guard but Marshall is keeping the position. Boyd is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Boyd passes Marshall's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marshall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Boyd is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Boyd wants to get back to his feet.
Boyd will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Marshall gets back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Marshall throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Boyd controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Marshall trying to control the position.
Boyd sitting in guard here, content to control. Marshall not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Michel Boyd has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Marshall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Boyd manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Boyd fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Marshall checks it well. Marshall goes for a double leg but Boyd avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Boyd continues to drive forward. Boyd breaks from the clinch.

Boyd has Marshall pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Marshall manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Marshall jumps guard but Boyd stands there with Marshall around his waist. Marshall gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Michel Boyd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Marshall. Marshall is trying to pull guard but Boyd has him pressed against the cage. Boyd has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Marshall uses from the top position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Boyd keeping moving, preventing Marshall from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michel Boyd dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Boyd looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Marshall! Marshall is looking for a sweep. Marshall takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Boyd is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Marshall has escaped the position, nice work there. Marshall is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Boyd scores with a couple of short elbows. Michel Boyd overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marshall prevents Boyd from moving into mount. Boyd controlling the position. Marshall wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Boyd has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Marshall's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Marshall is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Boyd!
