PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicky Lowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Osko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Osko is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sabotage. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Nicky Lowe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Osko!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lowe throws a lazy right hand but Osko sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lowe scores with the left hand. Osko knows he should have avoided that one.
Lowe moves out of range as Osko throws a body kick.

Osko shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Osko working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Osko prevents Lowe from improving his position.
We've been hearing good reports from Lowe's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Osko wants to free his trapped foot but Lowe is holding on for dear life with his legs.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Josh Osko hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Lowe seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Nicky Lowe has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Nicky Lowe will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nice sprawl there from Lowe as Osko shoots in.
Lowe loads up on a big right hand but Osko slips the punch.
Lowe misses with an uppercut. Osko saw that one coming.
Sloppy strikes from Lowe. Those never looked like landing.
Osko ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Lowe is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Osko.
Josh Osko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lowe throws a shot from downtown. Osko moves away and avoids it.
Osko moves out of range of the strikes.
Lowe cracks Osko with an open hand slap.
No joy there for Osko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nicky Lowe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Osko shoots in but no luck this time.
Lowe throws a hook but Osko avoids it easily.
Lowe throws out a loose jab but Osko uses good head movement to avoid it.

Osko throws a nice looking combination but Lowe bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Osko uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lowe.
Lowe fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Osko checks it well.
Lowe lands a nice shot to the body.
Lowe catches Osko with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Lowe is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Osko with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Lowe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Josh Osko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lowe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lowe lunges at Osko with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Osko's hand.

Osko looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Osko closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lowe quickly recovers to half guard.

Josh Osko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Osko has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
