Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Carlton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez comes into the arena with Lupang Hinirang-Philippines National Anthem blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Carlton! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Velasquez forces Carlton back against the cage and clinches. Carlton has clasped his hands together around Velasquez's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Velasquez wants to control but Carlton postures up. Velasquez prevents Carlton from moving into mount. Carlton in side control, throwing shots but Velasquez defends. The strikes coming from Carlton are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Velasquez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Velasquez is pushing Carlton's head away, looking to escape. Carlton manages to hold on to the position though. Carlton wants to control but Velasquez is keeping him busy. Velasquez throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Carlton working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Carlton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Carlton avoids the strikes from the bottom by Velasquez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlton misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Velasquez wants to control but Carlton postures up. Carlton in side control, throwing shots but Velasquez defends. Velasquez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Carlton's best efforts. Velasquez looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Velasquez actively working from the bottom here. Carlton missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Carlton looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Carlton is trying to control. Velasquez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Carlton is looking to advance position but Velasquez won't allow it. Velasquez is refusing to be controlled, as Carlton sits in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Velasquez is looking to control Carlton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Velasquez avoid being mounted? Carlton not landing any meaningful shots this time. Velasquez looks like he's trying to stand up.
Carlton is pressing down on Velasquez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Velasquez is holding on for now. Carlton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Velasquez's head. Carlton trying to control from half guard but Velasquez is working away. Carlton is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Velasquez! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Carlton wants to control the pace but Velasquez is squirming around nicely.

Velasquez sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Carlton throws a strike but Velasquez avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Velasquez is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Velasquez keeping moving, preventing Carlton from controlling successfully. Carlton landing with the ground and pound. Velasquez wants to sweep but no luck. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carlton throwing strikes but missing. Velasquez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Carlton trying to control but Velasquez is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carlton tries to stand but Velasquez is controlling from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill Carlton dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That's one minute gone in the round. Carlton regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Velasquez. Velasquez wants to control from the top but Carlton keeps moving. Velasquez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Cain Velasquez wasn't doing enough on the ground. Carlton avoids the head kick by Velasquez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Velasquez clinches. Velasquez lands a takedown into guard.
Velasquez wants to stand and escape but instead Carlton has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carlton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Velasquez is keeping the position for now. Carlton throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Velasquez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Velasquez looking for a guillotine here but Carlton defends easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Velasquez trying to keep a closed guard but Carlton is proving a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carlton throws a strike but Velasquez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Velasquez wants to control from the top but Carlton keeps moving. Velasquez stopping the sweep attempt from Carlton.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carlton trying to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Cain Velasquez just wasn't active enough. Velasquez drives through with a takedown into guard. Velasquez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Carlton wants to stand and escape but Velasquez is having none of it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Velasquez tries to stand but Carlton is controlling from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cain Velasquez dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Velasquez seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Carlton has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Velasquez keeps working. Carlton sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Velasquez is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Carlton moves into full mount! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Carlton lands with some strikes. Velasquez wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Carlton.
Carlton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Velasquez has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Bill Carlton has got the better of the ground game so far. Carlton lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Velasquez hang on? Carlton pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Carlton scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Velasquez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Carlton scores with a couple of nice shots. Carlton sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Velasquez defending well though. Carlton is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Velasquez! Carlton raining down hammerfists from mount. Velasquez is trying desperately to improve position. Carlton breaks from Velasquez's wrist control and lands an elbow. Velasquez is trying desperately to improve position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carlton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Velasquez tries to hold on but Carlton pushes him away.
And that's the end of the fight! Bill Carlton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Carlton has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
