Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Neusarth Martins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Donald Summer! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Summer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Martins blocks a jab. Martins displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Summer throws out the jab. Summer looks to land a left hand but Martins moved out of range nicely. Donald Summer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Martins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Summer's waist but Summer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martins off to one side. Martins looks for a takedown but Summer sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Neusarth Martins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Martins uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Summer. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice sprawl there from Summer as Martins shoots in. Martins has a takedown stuffed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martins tries for a takedown but Summer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Martins avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Summer throws a jab but it's blocked by Martins. Horrible takedown by Martins or perhaps it was just good defense by Summer which made him look bad. Martins looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Summer wants to stand up but Martins is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Summer keeping moving, preventing Martins from controlling successfully. Summer wants to sweep but no luck. Summer tries to strike from the bottom.
Martins with a flurry of punches that miss. Summer wants to stand and escape but Martins is having none of it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Summer waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Martins. Martins shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Summer as he avoids it easily. Martins looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Martins moves away from the strike by Summer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Summer misses with a wild body shot. Martins shoots for a double leg takedown but Summer sprawls well. He's pushed Martins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Martins fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Summer sprawls well initially but Martins persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Summer is looking to escape. Summer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Martins. Martins winds up and cracks Summer with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Summer is trying to get back to full guard. Martins slips a nice elbow through Summer's hands, connecting with Summer's forehead. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Summer is trying to stand up here but Martins is controlling him well. Summer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Summer is trying to get back to full guard. Martins seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. No joy there for Summer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Martins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Summer pinned against the cage. Summer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A right-left combo lands from Summer.
It looks like Neusarth Martins has been cut. Martins is breathing heavily. Summer thows a body shot but no joy. Martins moves forwards but Summer connects with a nice, crisp jab. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Summer drops Martins with a big left hand! Martins is injured, injured bad! Summer jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
