Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Asko Vilenius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hiruku Matah! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vilenius throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Matah ducks under a wild hook from Vilenius. Vilenius throws a hook but Matah blocks it. Matah walks into a straight right hand from Vilenius. We've been told by Vilenius's head coaches at Dark Horse MMA Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Vilenius swinging wildly here.

A slow jab from Vilenius misses its intended target. Vilenius looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Vilenius scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Hiruku Matah has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vilenius swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vilenius looks to land a right hand but Matah moved out of range. A punch lands to the side of Matah 's head but he takes it in his stride. Matah uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vilenius. Vilenius lands a slapping body shot.
Vilenius lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Matah backs up against the cage.
Matah keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Vilenius. Vilenius looks to land a left hand but Matah moved out of range nicely. Asko Vilenius seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No joy there for Vilenius, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Vilenius bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Vilenius takes a swing at Matah's ribcage but misses. Matah dodges the punch combination from Vilenius.
Vilenius lands a glancing blow to the side of Matah's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Matah slips a straight right by Vilenius. Matah uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vilenius.
Nice shot lands for Vilenius. Vilenius rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matah moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Vilenius throws a right hand that Matah ducks under and follows up with a left that Matah also avoids with ease. A combination from Vilenius does no damage. Vilenius misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nice cross by Vilenius. Vilenius throws a looping overhand right but Matah ducks down to avoid it. Vilenius missing with a left hand there. Matah was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Vilenius looks to land a combination but Matah avoids it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vilenius swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Matah. A combination from Vilenius does no damage. Vilenius is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Vilenius throws a right and a left that Matah avoids nicely. A jab from Vilenius misses. Vilenius scores with a punch to the head. Vilenius thows a left - swing and a miss! Vilenius lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Matah circles away quickly and effectively. Vilenius misses with a double jab
and Matah counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Matah missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Vilenius is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Matah is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vilenius sees it coming and defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Matah passes to full mount! Matah prevents Vilenius from getting the reversal. Matah scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Vilenius?
Matah wants to control the pace but Vilenius is squirming around nicely. Matah landing shots from mount. Matah is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Vilenius to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Vilenius shrugs it off. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Matah working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Matah is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Vilenius is surviving well by controlling Matah's body position as best he can. Vilenius sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Matah wants to free his trapped foot but Vilenius is holding on for dear life with his legs. Vilenius is looking for a sweep. Matah is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Asko Vilenius dominated that round. The cut man is working on Hiruku Matah's cut. That's time! Back to the action!

Matah steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vilenius. Vilenius lands a head shot. Vilenius lands the left hand. Vilenius connects with a body shot that sends Matah's belly button to the back. Vilenius scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Matah doesn't seem bothered though. Matah uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vilenius. Matah on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Vilenius thows a left - swing and a miss! Vilenius lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Vilenius swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. A punch combination from Vilenius misses. Vilenius loads up on a big right hand but Matah slips the punch. Asko Vilenius is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A cross from Vilenius lands. Vilenius rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matah moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Vilenius lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Vilenius throws a right hand that Matah ducks under and follows up with a left that Matah also avoids with ease. Vilenius misses with an uppercut. Asko Vilenius is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Vilenius walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Matah drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Vilenius swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Matah's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
