PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Hume (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Redshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redshaw has chosen ACDC - Skies on Fire as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Desmond Hume!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 3, fighting out of Sydney, Dexter Redshaw!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redshaw circles away from the clinch attempt.
Redshaw ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hume moves away.
Redshaw digs a good hook to Hume's body.
Hume throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Hume fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Redshaw has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Redshaw scores with a takedown into Hume's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Hume is trying to keep Redshaw in close.
Hume looking to hit a scissor sweep but Redshaw is one step ahead there.
Hume is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Redshaw is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Hume seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

My spies in Sydney Elite Systems inform me that Redshaw has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Hume on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hume tries to get out of the position.
Redshaw postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Oh Hume is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Redshaw loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Redshaw's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Redshaw won't allow Hume to sweep him here.
Redshaw is looking to work some ground and pound but Hume has wrist control.
Hume knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Redshaw on the ground.

Hume is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Redshaw is in close to Hume's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Redshaw with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hume really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Redshaw throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Redshaw is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Redshaw postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Hume covers up, he's hurt! Redshaw keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Redshaw and the ref steps in to end the fight! Redshaw can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dexter Redshaw!
A very excited looking Dexter Redshaw made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
