Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Doug Grave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Alex Ortiz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Doug Grave! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Ortiz! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Alex Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grave ducks under a wild hook from Ortiz. Grave circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ortiz feints and as Grave raises his hands in defense, Ortiz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ortiz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Grave's guard. Grave has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ortiz is working away from the top position though. Grave tries to get to full guard but Ortiz has control of the leg. Grave trying to control from the bottom.
Grave won't allow Ortiz to pass to mount. Ortiz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Grave wants to control but Ortiz is keeping busy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Grave steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ortiz. Ortiz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Grave uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ortiz. Ortiz misses with a hook. Ortiz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Grave.
Ortiz gets caught flat footed, as Grave shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Grave wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving. Grave missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Grave wants to control from the top but Ortiz keeps moving. Grave stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ortiz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Grave is working hard here to advance position. Ortiz throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Grave trying to control but Ortiz is working from the bottom. Grave is breathing heavily.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ortiz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A big right from Grave misses. Ortiz misses with a low kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Ortiz. Ortiz tries to clinch up but Grave circles away and keeps his distance. Grave has his takedown stuffed and Ortiz counters with a nice body shot. Grave keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Grave takes one to the chin there. Nice takedown defense from Grave. No joy for Ortiz on that attempt. Ortiz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Grave as he jumps to the side. Grave checks the leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz tries to clinch but Grave moves out of range. Grave tries to close the distance and clinch but Ortiz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Grave fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Grave circles away from the clinch attempt.
A big left from Ortiz misses. Ortiz throws a half hearted mid kick. Grave keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ortiz. Grave shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Ortiz counter with a right hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Ortiz dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ortiz throws a leg kick but Grave moved away. Grave misses with a takedown attempt and Ortiz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Grave! Grave is squirming around, avoiding Ortiz's attempts to control the action. Grave is controlling an arm, preventing Ortiz from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Grave is looking to get to half guard. Ortiz goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Grave is on top in guard.
Grave trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ortiz's guard. Ortiz is looking for a triangle but Grave pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz tries to land a sweep but no joy. Grave looking to sit in guard and control but Ortiz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Ortiz preventing the sweep. Ortiz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Grave is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Grave tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ortiz scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Ortiz just misses with a punch to the body.
Ortiz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ortiz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Grave is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Grave really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Grave tries to hold on but Ortiz pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortiz jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Grave manages to avoid the submission attempt. Grave manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ortiz's best efforts. Ortiz looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Ortiz wants to stand up but Grave is controlling the position.
Grave trying to hold on to Ortiz's head to control him but Ortiz postures up.
Ortiz is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Grave is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Grave wants to control but Ortiz is keeping busy and won't allow it. Ortiz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Grave is just riding it out for now. Ortiz eventually gives up the hold. Grave desperately trying to maintain half guard. Grave is trying to control but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Ortiz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Ortiz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Grave has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ortiz is working away from the top position though. Ortiz is working for a kimura but Grave is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ortiz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alex Ortiz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ortiz misses with a takedown attempt and Grave counters with a single leg into guard. Ortiz didn't expect that. Doug Grave has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Ortiz.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grave trying to control but Ortiz is working from the bottom. Grave passes Ortiz's left leg - he's now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ortiz manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Grave manages to get himself to full guard.
Ortiz wants to control from the top but Grave keeps moving. Grave had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ortiz is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Grave Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ortiz's back instead. Doug Grave has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ortiz is keeping busy.
Ortiz breaks Grave's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Doug Grave. Well Ortiz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
