Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Flagon Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Gore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sackett kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is RATM: Killing in the Name. Frank Gore has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Gore!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sackett throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gore counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gore cracks Sackett with an open hand slap.
Sackett has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Sackett throws a leg kick but Gore sees it coming and checks it nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gore looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sackett with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Gore working his ground and pound in the gym.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sackett on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sackett tries to get out of the position.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gore drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sackett looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sackett looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sackett!

Frank Gore dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Gore looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Gore takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Gore looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gore has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gore is trying to control. Sackett wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Sackett throws a jab but it's blocked by Gore.

Gore has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Sackett.

Gore drops his hands momentarily and Sackett takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Horrible takedown by Gore or perhaps it was just good defense by Sackett which made him look bad.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gore shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sackett's guard.

That's time! Sackett's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Sackett throws a front kick aimed at Gore's knee but Gore avoids it well.
Gore throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sackett stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sackett tried to score with a low kick but Gore checks it.
Sackett throws a right hand that Gore ducks under and follows up with a left that Gore also avoids with ease.

Gore fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sackett to the ground. Gore is now in Sackett's guard.
Gore connects with a couple of short punches.
Gore in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Sackett keeping moving, preventing Gore from controlling successfully.
Sackett can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gore controls the pace.
Gore slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gore connects with a nice short shot to Sackett's temple.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gore seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
