Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Morris Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Weidman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weidman has chosen The Climb-Miley Cyrus as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Chris Weidman looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Weidman! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hardy gets the takedown into side control. Hardy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Weidman looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Weidman is letting Hardy control him for a moment. Hardy goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Weidman rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hardy's guard! Nice work there by Weidman! Hardy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Weidman manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hardy looking to pass the guard. Hardy pushing down on Weidman's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hardy controlling the action here. Hardy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Weidman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Hardy trying to control the pace. Hardy looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Hardy trying to mount his opponent but Weidman defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hardy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Morris Hardy has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Hardy rushes Weidman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hardy has hold of one of Weidman's legs. Weidman is fighting the takedown attempt but Hardy gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Hardy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hardy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Weidman's head. This has been an exciting period of action! Hardy wants to stand but Weidman has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Las Vegas inform us that Weidman has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hardy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Morris Hardy wasn't doing enough on the ground. Nice uppercut there from Hardy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hardy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Weidman! Hardy tries to stand but Weidman is controlling his head. Weidman is pushing Hardy's head away, looking to escape. Hardy manages to hold on to the position though. Hardy wants to stand but Weidman has his arm trapped. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Weidman gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Morris Hardy dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Hardy misses with a few strikes there.
Hardy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Hardy stalling. Hardy is looking for a kimura but Weidman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hardy to get the leverage. Hardy working Weidman over with strikes. Weidman is breathing heavily. Hardy is taking a breather. Weidman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morris Hardy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Weidman tries to kick Hardy off in order to stand up. Hardy Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. A lull in the action here. Hardy works to advance to full mount. Weidman defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hardy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Hardy landing shots from mount. Hardy punishing his opponent with strikes. Hardy is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Weidman is surviving well by controlling Hardy's body position as best he can. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hardy looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy is in the full mount, landing strikes. Hardy lands a big elbow. Hardy has control of Weidman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Weidman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hardy lands a big shot there that rocks Weidman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Hardy shoots in but Weidman avoids the takedown attempt easily. Morris Hardy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hardy shoots for a double leg takedown but Weidman sprawls well. He's pushed Hardy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hardy closes the distance and clinches. Hardy manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hardy holds on and takes a little breather. Weidman preventing the sweep. Weidman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Weidman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hardy has control of Weidman's left arm, preventing Weidman from doing any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Morris Hardy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Hardy throws a leg kick but Weidman moved away. Weidman takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Hardy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hardy scores with a hook to the body. Weidman takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Weidman gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hardy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hardy stops Weidman from standing up. Hardy is stalling in the full guard. Hardy won't allow Weidman to sweep him here.

Weidman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hardy is tightening it up a little... Weidman has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Weidman reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Weidman taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hardy!
