Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Boka Shiluo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Boka Shiluo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Forrest Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shiluo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Griffin wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Shiluo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Griffin, who protects the arm well.
Shiluo trying to control the position but Griffin is working away.
A lull in the action here as Shiluo stalls from top position.

Griffin is trying to control Shiluo's posture but Shiluo avoids it.
Griffin stops Shiluo from passing to mount.
Griffin is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Shiluo off and has taken his back!
Griffin doesn't have the hooks in and Shiluo manages to turn into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shiluo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Shiluo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Shiluo trying to pass the guard but Griffin defending well.
Griffin wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin is looking to control Shiluo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Griffin avoid being mounted?
Shiluo drops an elbow to the side of Griffin's head.

Shiluo moves into full mount! Griffin won't be happy about that!
Griffin is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Shiluo has taken his back.

Shiluo is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Griffin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Shiluo is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Griffin defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Shiluo is breathing heavily.

Shiluo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Shiluo is looking to clinch but Griffin is avoiding it.

Shiluo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Griffin tries to get to full guard but Shiluo has control of the leg.
Griffin is refusing to be controlled, as Shiluo sits in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shiluo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Griffin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Shiluo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Griffin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Shiluo wants to pass to mount but Griffin is defending the position.
Shiluo is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Shiluo tries to clinch up but Griffin circles away and keeps his distance.
Forrest Griffin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Griffin misses with a low kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shiluo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Boka Shiluo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice defenses there by Griffin.
Shiluo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Griffin darts in trying to clinch
and Shiluo counters with a thumping low kick.

Griffin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shiluo finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Griffin tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Shiluo counters with a slapping leg kick.
Griffin fails to land with a series of punches.
Griffin doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Shiluo counter with a right hand.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Shiluo shoots in but Griffin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Griffin throws a head kick that misses

and Shiluo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shiluo.

Griffin has his foot on Shiluo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shiluo works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Griffin misses with a jab, cross combination.
A left lands for Shiluo.
Shiluo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Griffin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Griffin scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Shiluo moves away from the strike by Griffin.
Shiluo circles away from the clinch attempt

and Shiluo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Griffin!

Shiluo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Griffin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Griffin!
Shiluo wants to sweep here but Griffin controlling him for the moment.
Shiluo is working hard here to advance position.
Griffin postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Shiluo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Griffin manages to get himself to full guard.
Griffin keeping moving, preventing Shiluo from controlling successfully.

Shiluo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Griffin dives on top into guard.
Boka Shiluo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Griffin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shiluo is proving hard to escape from.

Shiluo looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Griffin passes into half guard.

Shiluo tries to roll over but Griffin keeps him under control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Griffin manages to capitalize on a mistake by Shiluo to take his back!

Forrest Griffin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Shiluo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
