Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Reed Richards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aquele Cara Americano Do Brasil! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Americano Do Brasil throws a leg kick but Richards sees it coming and moves out of range. Richards scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Richards is working for a submission of some sort.
Richards is looking for a kimura but Americano Do Brasil is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Richards to get the leverage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Richards seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Americano Do Brasil does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Richards looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Richards is pressing down on Americano Do Brasil's thigh, looking to free his foot. Americano Do Brasil is holding on for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richards content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Richards wants to pass the guard but Americano Do Brasil is defending well. Americano Do Brasil is defending against the submission attempts here by Richards.
Americano Do Brasil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richards. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Americano Do Brasil is looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Richards slows the pace down in half guard. Richards wants to lay and pray for a moment but Americano Do Brasil keeps working. Richards works his way into full mount! Richards working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Richards with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richards moves to take his opponent's back. Americano Do Brasil trying to get back to his feet but Richards is in full control for now. Americano Do Brasil won't enjoy being in this position. Richards looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Americano Do Brasil is tapping - it's over boys! Richards picks up the submission victory!
