Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Almeida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joilton Nogueira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Almeida kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Rock You Like a Hurricane. Nogueira has chosen TUF Brasil as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Joilton Nogueira is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nogueira displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Almeida.
Almeida shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nogueira tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Almeida counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Nogueira wants to get back to his feet but Almeida is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Almeida with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nogueira can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nogueira felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Almeida has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Almeida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nogueira swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Almeida seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Almeida postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Nogueira covers up, he's hurt! Almeida keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Almeida and the ref steps in to end the fight! Almeida can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
