Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Billy Do!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kantaro Hoshino!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Hoshino - just one landing.

Do changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hoshino looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Do is putting a hurting on Hoshino here, landing some big shots from side control.
Do working the ground and pound but Hoshino is defending the strikes.
Hoshino is trying to improve his position.
Do creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hoshino sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Do tries to score with some ground and pound. Hoshino controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Do is trying to get an arm triangle but Hoshino is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Do in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Hoshino tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Do wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Do landing a few strikes.
Hoshino is trying to get back to his feet.

Do swings around for an armbar but Hoshino sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Do's guard.
Hoshino won't allow Do to sweep him here.
Do is trying to keep Hoshino in close.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Billy Do just wasn't active enough.
Do fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hoshino manages to avoid it.
Hoshino is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Do.
Do shoots in for a takedown but Hoshino shows good takedown defense.
Kantaro Hoshino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Do, right into the meat.
Do misses with a low kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hoshino throws an off balance right hand

and Do counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Do has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Do drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hoshino manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Do has Hoshino in his guard.
Do keeping full guard, as Hoshino tries to pass.

Hoshino is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kantaro Hoshino hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hoshino on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Do connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hoshino. Hoshino circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Hoshino missing with a left hand there. Do was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Do drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Do working the ground and pound from side control.
Hoshino defending against the ground and pound.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hoshino wants to control but Do postures up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hoshino throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Do sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Do displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hoshino throws out the jab.
Hoshino takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Do misses with a hook. Hoshino ducked under it nicely.

Hoshino takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Do fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hoshino avoids it really well and circles away.

Do is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hoshino.
Hoshino throws a hook to the side of Do's head but Do sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Do is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Hoshino keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Do.
Hoshino throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Do fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hoshino throws a lazy right hand but Do sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Do loads up on a big right hand but Hoshino slips the punch.

and Hoshino counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Hoshino shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Hoshino moves forwards but Do connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Do misses with a hook. Hoshino ducked under it nicely.

Do cracks Hoshino with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hoshino might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Hoshino lands with a hook. Do tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hoshino throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hoshino keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Do. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hoshino lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The fighters circling - Do throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Do throws a looping overhand right but Hoshino ducks down to avoid it.

The crowd cheers as Do lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hoshino doesn't seem phased though.

Hoshino looks to throw the jab but Do is out of range.
Do looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Do clobbers Hoshino with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hoshino enables Do to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hoshino manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Do postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Do working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Hoshino pulls Do in to control the position.
Do scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Billy Do overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hoshino is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Do dives in for a single leg takedown but Hoshino sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Hoshino pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Do pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Do lands with a nice combination. Hoshino backs away looking to recover.
Billy Do is winning the standup battle so far.
Do is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hoshino sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Hoshino walks into a stiff left hand from Do.
No luck for Do with that takedown attempt.

Do throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Hoshino displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Do.

Billy Do seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Do looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hoshino is fending him off so far but Do persists. Nope, Hoshino circles away and we're back to standing.
Do avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Do lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hoshino circles away quickly and effectively.

Do throws a looping overhand right but Hoshino ducks down to avoid it.
Hoshino punishes Do's body with a nice straight punch.
Hoshino connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Hoshino thuds his right hand into Do's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Billy Do is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kantaro Hoshino comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Do has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Billy Do rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
