Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rex McLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bid Ari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McLain's entrance music is Johnny Cash-Cocaine Blues. A fine choice. Bid Ari has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rex McLain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bid Ari! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLain slaps away a takedown attempt from Ari, before circling back to the center of the mat. Ari tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McLain paws at him with a jab and circles away. Ari looks to land a combination but McLain avoids it well. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Ari has eaten all the pies! Ari looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
McLain clinches. Ari drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McLain gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Rex McLain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bid Ari. Ari is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Ari tries to pull guard but McLain won't allow it.
McLain gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Ari has momentary wrist control but McLain slips an elbow through the middle.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
McLain gets to his feet. Ari looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Ari tries to clinch but McLain is having none of it. Ari throws a quick head kick that skims the top of McLain's head. McLain throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ari. McLain goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ari. McLain misses with a leg kick and Ari counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. McLain drops his hands momentarily and Ari takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Sloppy strikes from McLain. Those never looked like landing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McLain thows a leg kick but Ari checks it
and Ari counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Ari wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
McLain wants the takedown. Ari is fighting it off but McLain persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ari's guard against the cage. McLain is breathing heavily. McLain is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. McLain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Ari looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but McLain puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. McLain throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
McLain is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Nice strikes from McLain there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ari has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McLain is working away from the top position though.
McLain has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ari defend it? McLain steps over the head and cranks it - Ari is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McLain!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rex McLain! Post fight, an emotional Rex McLain said 'I like to think of myself as the best in the world. I hope tonight I proved that. If you don't know me, my goal is to always go for the knockout. It's a somewhat predictable strategy but damn is it fun to watch. Thanks for watching me. '.
