The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foster defending well as York loads up on a big left hand. York wants to clinch but Foster slips to the side and Foster holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Foster has clasped his hands together around York's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Foster is chipping away with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A lull in the action here as Foster stalls from top position. Foster working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. This has been an exciting period of action! Foster controls the position from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foster is working to tighten his grip on York's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. York has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Foster is really squeezing tight and eventually York passes out! Foster breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Tony Foster! In his post fight interview, Tony Foster started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
