PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrea Carnevale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Demaestri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carnevale comes into the arena with Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Julian Demaestri!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Demaestri lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Demaestri closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Carnevale is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at MuscleWorks Amsterdam™ that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Demaestri thows a huge punch but Carnevale dodges it nicely.

Demaestri is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carnevale is just riding it out for now. Demaestri eventually gives up the hold.

Demaestri seems to be looking for submissions.

Demaestri looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Carnevale holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Demaestri wants to work for an arm triangle but Carnevale is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Carnevale is staying active underneath Demaestri, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Carnevale has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Carnevale there as he acknowledges the shot.
Carnevale lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Demaestri shoots for a takedown but Carnevale saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Carnevale. Demaestri does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carnevale buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Demaestri scores with a crisp jab that stopped Carnevale in his tracks.
Demaestri dives in for a single leg takedown but Carnevale sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Carnevale tries a body shot but Demaestri blocks it.
Carnevale can't find room to land a body shot as Demaestri controls the action.
Carnevale lands with a right to the head.
Carnevale lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Demaestri or not.

Carnevale wants a takedown but no success here.

Carnevale breaks the clinch.
Demaestri throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carnevale's waist but Carnevale gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Demaestri off to one side.
Andrea Carnevale has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Demaestri.
Carnevale misses the shot to the body.
Carnevale throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Demaestri shoots and misses

Demaestri scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Carnevale fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Demaestri manages to avoid it.
Julian Demaestri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Demaestri swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Carnevale moves out of range of the strikes.
Demaestri scores with a nice head shot.
Demaestri shoots for a takedown but Carnevale saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Carnevale counters with a nice body shot.
Demaestri looks winded!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carnevale takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Carnevale is looking to wear down Demaestri with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
A big left from Carnevale misses.
Demaestri connects with a single shot there.
Carnevale throws a body punch but Demaestri moves out of range.
Demaestri shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carnevale sprawls well. Carnevale wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Demaestri gets slowly back to his feet.

Demaestri throws a looping overhand right but Carnevale ducks down to avoid it.
Demaestri throws a hook but Carnevale blocks it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Demaestri doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Demaestri drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Carnevale cracks Demaestri with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Demaestri tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Carnevale pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Demaestri is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andrea Carnevale!
