Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Fredrick Felino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cappy Christian! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Felino circles away from the clinch attempt so Felino counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Christian has momentary wrist control but Felino slips an elbow through the middle. Christian wants to get back to his feet but Felino is in a dominant position and won't allow it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Christian can do anything to dispel that myth. Felino throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Christian works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Felino's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Felino stops Christian from standing up. Felino is working Christian over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Felino missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Felino scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Felino might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Felino connects with a couple of short punches. Felino throws a big right hand that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Felino lands a couple of digs. Felino working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Felino loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Felino trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Felino missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Felino passes Christian's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Felino sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Christian defending well though. Felino is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Felino tries to pass to full mount but Christian defends it. Christian really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Felino. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Felino passes the guard and advances to mount! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Felino working away from the top, dropping strikes. Felino has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Felino has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Christian's face.

Christian is rocked! We've been hearing good reports from Felino's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
