Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Justin Herald! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ray Olhoffer! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Olhoffer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A chopping leg kick lands by Herald. Herald throws the kick towards the body but Olhoffer avoids it. Justin Herald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Herald lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Olhoffer circles away quickly and effectively. Olhoffer looks to land a combination but Herald avoids it well. Olhoffer jabs at Herald's body. Herald throws a wild combination but nothing lands. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Herald will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Herald feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Olhoffer's calf. Olhoffer gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Herald throws a front kick aimed at Olhoffer's knee but Olhoffer avoids it well. Olhoffer fails to land with a series of punches.
Herald with a hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. Olhoffer tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Herald swings for the body but Olhoffer moves out of range.
Olhoffer defending well as Herald loads up on a big left hand. A looping hook to the body misses from Olhoffer. Herald does a little dance to reset his feet. Herald throws the left hand but Olhoffer avoids the punch easily. Olhoffer takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Olhoffer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Olhoffer on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. We've been told by Herald's head coaches at The Consortium - Rio (Message for Tryouts) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Olhoffer looks winded! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Herald scores with a sloppy right hand. Olhoffer should have avoided that one.
It looks like Ray Olhoffer has been cut. Herald cracks the inside of Olhoffer's front leg. Olhoffer takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Nice defenses there by Olhoffer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Oooooh!!! Herald has knocked Olhoffer down with a huge combo! Herald steps away and waves a wobbly Olhoffer back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Olhoffer is rocked! Herald takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Olhoffer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Herald thumps Olhoffer with a low kick. Herald misses with a few strikes there.
Herald misses with a wild body shot. Olhoffer avoids a kick to the body.
Herald connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Olhoffer tumbling to the canvas! Herald pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Olhoffer was done - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Justin Herald! Justin Herald retains his heavyweight title! Justin Herald spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
