Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edson Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Antonio Gracie has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Edson Ferreira's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edson Ferreira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Gracie! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie takes a head kick and keeps coming.
It looks like Antonio Gracie has been cut. Ferreira throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Gracie throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ferreira lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gracie backs up against the cage.
Gracie tries to keep at a distance but Ferreira has taken the fight into the clinch. Gracie wants to break free but Ferreira has control.
Ferreira breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Gracie moves in looking to clinch but Ferreira pushes him off. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ferreira.
Ferreira pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Gracie back to the cage. Ferreira follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ferreira has taken the fight to the clinch.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gracie has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferreira utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Gracie is trying to force a seperation but Ferreira has the dominant position. Gracie tries to break free but Ferreira pushes him back against the cage. Ferreira lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Ferreira obliges. Gracie is trying to break the clinch but Ferreira has him pressed against the cage. Ferreira lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Ferreira lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Gracie is trying to break the clinch but Ferreira is controlling him. Gracie wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ferreira has him pressed against the cage. Gracie wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Gracie is trying to break free. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ferreira lands a knee to the head.
Gracie is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferreira controlling the action here for a moment.

That has opened up Antonio Gracie's cut even more. Ferreira escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Ferreira counters with a nice body kick. Gracie looks winded! Gracie tries to keep at a distance but Ferreira has taken the fight into the clinch. Ferreira has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Gracie - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Ferreira, and another! Gracie is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Edson Ferreira! In his post fight interview, Edson Ferreira started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
