The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aguirre avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Savage fails with a takedown attempt.

Aguirre is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Savage can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Aguirre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Savage swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee asks Aguirre politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Aguirre prefers to stall for the moment though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Savage is looking for a sweep. Aguirre is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Aguirre is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Savage defends it well.

Aguirre has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
