Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brett Barr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brendan Merlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brett Barr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brendan Merlo! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merlo wants to clinch up but Barr keeps it at a distance. Merlo tries to clinch but Barr is having none of it. Merlo lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Merlo throws a head kick but Barr moves out of range.
Barr fails to land the takedown. Merlo tries to clinch but Barr moves out of range. Barr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Barr showed some decent athleticism there. Merlo looks like he's trying to stand up.
Barr wants to stand but Merlo has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barr keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Barr thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Merlo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Merlo is trying to stand back up but Barr is controlling him
Merlo is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Nice strikes from Barr there. Merlo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Merlo pushes Barr off looking to stand but Barr dives back in and keeps control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Barr trying to pass the guard but Merlo defending well. Barr performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Brett Barr has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Barr misses with a body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merlo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Barr swats him away and circles back towards the center. A punch combination from Barr misses. Merlo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barr.
Merlo tries to clinch up and Barr counters with a takedown into side control. Barr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Barr taking a breather here. Barr throwing shots but missing, from side control. Barr just content to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barr wants to stand but Merlo has his arm trapped. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Barr has hold of Merlo's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Merlo seems comfortable defending it but Barr has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Merlo is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Merlo is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Barr couldn't care less - he's delighted!
