Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bernard Cornwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomes has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bernard Cornwell!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cornwell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gomes's guard.
Cornwell looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Cornwell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Cornwell's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Gomes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Let's hope that Cornwell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Cornwell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gomes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cornwell remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Cornwell takes a little break here. Gomes wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bernard Cornwell hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Cornwell closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gomes quickly recovers to half guard.

Bernard Cornwell is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Cornwell throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gomes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cornwell is in Gomes's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Cornwell is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gomes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cornwell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cornwell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well Cornwell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
