Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Konstantin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mick Marley! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Konstantin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Konstantin sitting in guard here, content to control. Konstantin stopping the sweep attempt from Marley. Marley keeping full guard, as Konstantin tries to pass. Konstantin throws a big right hand that misses. Marley lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Konstantin! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Konstantin is trying to escape the mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Konstantin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Konstantin manages to regain half guard. Good work. Marley tries to stand and escape but Konstantin is controlling the position. Marley trying to control the action but Konstantin is working from the bottom. Marley is pressing down on Konstantin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Konstantin is holding on for now. Konstantin works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Konstantin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Konstantin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Konstantin tries to get out of the position. Konstantin has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Marley wants to control from the top but Konstantin keeps moving.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mick Marley wasn't active enough on the ground. Marley throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Konstantin. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Marley is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Marley has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marley shoots in but no luck this time. Konstantin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Marley tries to clinch but Konstantin moves out of range. Marley tries to clinch up. Konstantin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Konstantin throws a push kick but Marley slaps the foot to one side. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marley. Konstantin wants to clinch. Marley forces Konstantin back against the cage and clinches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Konstantin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Konstantin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Marley.
Jake Konstantin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mick Marley. A frustrated look appears on Konstantin's face as he tries to break the clinch. Marley misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Konstantin.
Marley wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Konstantin has him pressed against the cage. Marley is trying to pull guard but Konstantin turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Konstantin misses with a knee strike.
Konstantin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Konstantin manages to end up in side control. Marley wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Konstantin misses with an attempted head punch from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Konstantin dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Marley darts in trying to clinch and Konstantin moves into the clinch. Konstantin throws a head punch that misses. Konstantin lands with a right to the head. Marley is trying to break free. Marley is pressed up against the cage. Konstantin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Marley down to the mat. Marley avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Konstantin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marley sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Marley shoots in looking for a takedown but Konstantin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Marley's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Konstantin forces Marley back against the cage and clinches. Marley is trying to force a seperation but Konstantin has the dominant position. Konstantin breaks from the clinch.
Marley tries to clinch up but Konstantin circles away and keeps his distance. Konstantin dives in and grabs Marley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marley pushes down on Konstantin's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Konstantin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Konstantin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marley throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Marley avoids a punch combination nicely.
Marley tries for a takedown but Konstantin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Marley tries to clinch but Konstantin moves out of range. Konstantin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marley but Marley pushes him off and we're back to square one. Marley is looking to clinch but Konstantin is avoiding it.
Konstantin drives through with a takedown into Marley's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Konstantin sitting in guard, not really doing much. Konstantin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marley fails with the takedown. Marley moves in looking to clinch but Konstantin pushes him off. Marley fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Konstantin. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Marley tries to land a front kick but Konstantin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Konstantin misses with a few strikes there.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Konstantin. Konstantin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Marley has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marley is looking for a sweep. Konstantin working the ground and pound but Marley is defending the strikes. Konstantin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Konstantin trying to control the position but Marley is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Konstantin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Marley is trying to improve his position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Konstantin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Marley as he jumps to the side. Marley looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Marley fails with the takedown and Konstantin counters with a shoot takedown. Marley fights it but they end up in guard. Marley is trying to control the position but Konstantin postures up. Jake Konstantin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Konstantin advances position into side control! Marley is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Konstantin asserts his dominance and retains side control. Konstantin in side control, throwing shots but Marley defends.
That's one minute gone in the round. Konstantin is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Marley will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Marley prevents Konstantin from improving position. Marley tries to improve position but can't. Konstantin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Konstantin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marley seems a little lost for a moment, as Konstantin dominates the positioning. Konstantin in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Konstantin tries to score with some ground and pound. Marley controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Konstantin controlling the position from side mount. You can see the frustration on Marley's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mick Marley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Konstantin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Konstantin tries to move into full mount but can't pass Marley's legs. Marley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Konstantin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Konstantin is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Marley will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Konstantin throws a strike aimed at the side of Marley's head but Marley avoids it well. Jake Konstantin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Konstantin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that's the end of the fight! Jake Konstantin showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Konstantin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
