Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Gillespie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark McGillivary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark McGillivary will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Solomon Gillespie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark McGillivary!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGillivary has his takedown stuffed

and Gillespie counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Gillespie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

McGillivary is fighting to break Gillespie's control of his arms but Gillespie is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McGillivary has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Gillespie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McGillivary is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

McGillivary lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Gillespie hang on?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGillivary is in the full mount, landing strikes.

McGillivary is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Gillespie is surviving well by controlling McGillivary's body position as best he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gillespie is squirming around, avoiding McGillivary's attempts to control the action.

McGillivary has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gillespie is trying desperately to improve position.

McGillivary has hold of Gillespie's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gillespie manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

McGillivary is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gillespie has managed to escape the submission attempt.

McGillivary is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gillespie to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gillespie shrugs it off.
Gillespie on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gillespie tries to get out of the position.

McGillivary is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Gillespie has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Gillespie!

McGillivary is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McGillivary stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gillespie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Solomon Gillespie wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Gillespie counters with a stiff right hand.
McGillivary tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gillespie defends well and McGillivary ends up having to push Gillespie into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Gillespie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGillivary doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGillivary manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McGillivary is looking to advance position but Gillespie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
McGillivary reaches up to try and control the position but Gillespie seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! McGillivary rolls and tries to escape and now Gillespie has his back!

McGillivary is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Gillespie could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That was a close second round but I would say that Solomon Gillespie will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McGillivary shoots in but no luck this time.
McGillivary takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

McGillivary avoids the head kick by Gillespie.

Gillespie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McGillivary did well to prevent Gillespie getting side control.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Solomon Gillespie just wasn't active enough.

Solomon Gillespie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark McGillivary.

Gillespie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McGillivary knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gillespie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McGillivary is proving hard to escape from.

Solomon Gillespie showed his dominance in that final round.
