Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jewel Wilcox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Mathews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jewel Wilcox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Mathews! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilcox gets a double leg takedown into Mathews's guard. Wilcox stands up over Mathews, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Wilcox trying to control but Mathews is working from the bottom. Wilcox trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilcox wants to stand but Mathews is controlling his posture from full guard. Mathews keeping full guard, as Wilcox tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilcox working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jewel Wilcox. Wilcox throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Wilcox changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mathews looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mathews stops Wilcox from passing to mount. Mathews pushes Wilcox away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wilcox gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. An elbow from Wilcox crashes against the mat.
Wilcox slows the pace down. Wilcox trying to control the action but Mathews is working from the bottom.
Jewel Wilcox has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Wilcox wants to clinch up but Mathews keeps it at a distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilcox lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Wilcox tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Wilcox shoots in and gets a takedown into Mathews's guard. Wilcox forces his way into half guard. Mathews is looking to get back to is feet but Wilcox passes into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilcox working the ground and pound but Mathews is defending the strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilcox throws an elbow but Mathews slips to the side and avoids it well. Wilcox advances nicely into full mount. Wilcox landing strikes, looking to finish! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wilcox looking to control but Mathews is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jewel Wilcox dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Wilcox trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mathews's guard. Wilcox could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jewel Wilcox wasn't doing enough on the ground. Wilcox decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Wilcox controlling the action here. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Wilcox seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mathews does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We're going to have a standup here because Jewel Wilcox wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Excellent takedown into side control there by Wilcox. Wilcox tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Wilcox content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Jewel Wilcox overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilcox in side control, throwing shots but Mathews defends. Wilcox tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Mathews really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilcox. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wilcox trying to control the action but Mathews is working from the bottom. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilcox shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wilcox was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Wilcox trying to control the action but Mathews is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jewel Wilcox dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Wilcox closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mathews quickly recovers to half guard. Mathews is not content to let Wilcox control the position. Mathews is trying to stand up here but Wilcox is controlling him well. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mathews can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wilcox shoots in and bounces Mathews off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Wilcox throws a strike but Mathews rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mathews is looking to stand up but Wilcox isn't so interested in that idea. Wilcox is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

And that's the end of the fight! Jewel Wilcox showed his dominance in that final round. Well Wilcox has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
