Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Diesel!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hurley gets a clinch.
Diesel tries to pull guard but Hurley won't allow it.
Hurley misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Diesel.
Diesel is trying to pull guard but Hurley turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Diesel jumps guard but Hurley turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gary Hurley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Diesel.

Hurley breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hurley shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hurley is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Diesel has managed to free his arm - good work.
Diesel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hurley's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hurley's back!

Well, with Diesel on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Hurley is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Diesel not allowing Hurley to control his hands.
Hurley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Diesel looking for the choke but no joy.

Diesel goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Hurley escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Diesel wants to control but Hurley is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Diesel moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hurley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diesel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hurley has managed to get both his arms back between Diesel's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diesel has his foot on Hurley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hurley works his way back into a safe position though.

Hurley looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Diesel isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hurley stacks Diesel on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hurley!
Diesel manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Diesel is looking to control Hurley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Diesel avoid being mounted?

Hurley moves nicely into side control.
Diesel is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hurley off and has taken his back!

Diesel gets caught napping as Hurley dives in and scores a takedown. Diesel manages to retain guard.

Diesel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hurley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Diesel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hurley trying to control the position from guard on top but Diesel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hurley is really struggling to control Diesel but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hurley tries to free his leg and advance position but Diesel is retaining full guard.

Hurley wants to control from the top but Diesel keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gary Hurley.

Hurley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diesel's guard.
Diesel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hurley manages to get himself to full guard.
Hurley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Diesel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hurley's guard.

Diesel is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hurley has managed to free his arm - good work.

Diesel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hurley defends it well.

Diesel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hurley wants to hit a switch here but Diesel passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hurley there!
Diesel unloads with some shots from mount but Hurley bucks and avoids them well.

Diesel looking for a guillotine from mount but Hurley is having none of it.

Diesel moves into full mount! Hurley won't be happy about that!
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Diesel looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hurley is looking to improve his position but Diesel isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Diesel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Hurley rushes Diesel and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Diesel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hurley walks away with a smile on his face. Diesel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Diesel gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Diesel is looking for a triangle but Hurley pushes his legs off easily.
Diesel is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Diesel looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hurley passes into side control.
Diesel managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hurley.

Hurley works to advance to full mount. Diesel defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Diesel tries to hold on but Hurley postures up.
Diesel is looking to get to half guard.
Diesel tries to hold on but Hurley pushes him away.
Diesel sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Diesel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Diesel desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Diesel trying to hold on to Hurley's head to control him but Hurley postures up.
Hurley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diesel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hurley throws a lazy right hand but Diesel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Hurley fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Diesel to the ground. Hurley is now in Diesel's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Diesel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Diesel keeping moving, preventing Hurley from controlling successfully.
Diesel wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Diesel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hurley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hurley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hurley wants to stand and escape but instead Diesel has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Diesel forces his way into half guard.
Hurley controlling the position well.

Diesel is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hurley doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diesel.

Diesel seems to be working for a kimura but Hurley defends the submission attempt.

Josh Diesel has got the better of the ground game so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hurley tries to roll over but Diesel keeps him under control.

I would just about give that final round to Josh Diesel.
I've got Diesel winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
