Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dorian Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Smith's choice of entrance music: Power. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petersen dodges the punch combination from Smith.
Petersen looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well.
Smith shoots in but Petersen avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Petersen shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Petersen lands with a good body shot.
Petersen fails to land the takedown.
Petersen moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Petersen sprawls well. Petersen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

and Smith counters with a big head kick but Petersen shrugs it off.

Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Petersen tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Petersen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Petersen moves out of range easily.

Smith gets a clinch.
Smith keeps control of Petersen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Smith tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Petersen just stands there and leans against the cage.

Petersen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smith uses from the top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Smith is looking to work some ground and pound but Petersen has wrist control.
Petersen trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Petersen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Smith prevents Petersen from getting back to his feet.
Smith passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Petersen tries to buck Smith off but Smith is having none of it.

Petersen looks to move to half guard but instead Smith has passed into mount! Damn!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith looking to ground and pound but Petersen is blocking nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Petersen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Smith throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Petersen because Smith loaded up on that one.
Petersen has given up his back. Will we see Smith going for some submissions?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Petersen tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Petersen is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Petersen is trying desperately to improve position.
Smith misses with a head shot.
Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Petersen tries to hold on but Smith postures up.
Petersen is looking to improve his position but Smith isn't that keen on the idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Petersen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown but Petersen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Petersen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Petersen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Smith lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Petersen.

Petersen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Smith's calf.

Dorian Petersen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Petersen tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith throws a nice looking combination but Petersen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Robert Smith seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Petersen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely.

Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Petersen, pushing him back against the cage.
Smith tries to pull guard but Petersen holds him up against the cage and eventually Smith drops back down to his feet.
Petersen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smith pulls his leg out and moves away.
Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Petersen is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Petersen circles away and we're back to standing.
Petersen stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Smith. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Petersen misses with a head kick.
Petersen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Petersen off to one side.
Smith has a takedown stuffed.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Petersen circles away.
Smith lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Petersen at a distance.
Smith looks for a takedown but Petersen sprawls well.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Petersen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Robert Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Petersen swivels and escapes.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Petersen sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Robert Smith is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
