PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Hilder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and punch master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Hilder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, punch master!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hilder looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? master is fending him off so far but Hilder persists. Nope, master circles away and we're back to standing.
Hilder shoots in for a double leg but master sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hilder closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
master is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hilder asserts his dominance and retains side control.
master tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hilder thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
master is looking for a sweep.
master manages to get back to half guard.
master is trying to stand up here but Hilder is controlling him well.

Hilder is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so master is just riding it out for now. Hilder eventually gives up the hold.
master is trying to maintain the position but Hilder is very close to passing his half guard.

master is doing well to control the position and prevent Hilder from advancing to side control.

Hilder wants to work for an arm triangle but master is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hilder seems to be working for a kimura but master defends the submission attempt.
Hilder is breathing heavily.
Hilder looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The fighters are battling for position here. master manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
master controls Hilder momentarily but Hilder frees himself.
master wants to sweep here but Hilder controlling him for the moment.
master doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
master wants to stand and escape but Hilder is having none of it.
master trying to keep a closed guard but Hilder is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hilder throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around master's waist but master gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hilder off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Hilder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
master wants to clinch.
master throws a right and a left that both miss.
master fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hilder.
Hilder showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from master.

master throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hilder fails to land the takedown.
Hilder misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hilder uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by master.

master clinches with his opponent.
master lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hilder backwards.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A short uppercut from master.
master lands an elbow just above Hilder 's eye.


It looks like Justin Hilder has been cut.
master with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
A short uppercut from master.

master wants the takedown. Hilder is fighting it off but master persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hilder's guard against the cage.
master not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
master tries to free his leg and advance position but Hilder is retaining full guard.
master passes into half guard.
master sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Hilder wants to improve his position but master is controlling well.
master seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hilder does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

master wants to clinch up but Hilder keeps it at a distance.
master ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hilder shoots in and drives through. master sprawls well.
Hilder moves out of range of the leg kick from master.
Hilder throws a series of punches but master avoids them all with ease.
master chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Justin Hilder is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hilder fails with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
master plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

master wants to clinch up but Hilder keeps it at a distance.
master swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
master just misses with a punch to the body.
master goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
master tries for a takedown but Hilder circles away easily

and Hilder counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in master's guard now.
master has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hilder wants to pass the guard but master is keeping the position.

master is looking to stand up but Hilder isn't so interested in that idea.
Hilder pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. master is keeping the position for now.
master is trying to control the position but Hilder postures up.
master pulls Hilder in close to prevent any damage.
Hilder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. master swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
master misses with a combination

and Hilder counters with a shoot takedown. master fights it but they end up in guard.

Hilder slips nicely into half guard.

Hilder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

master kicks Hilder off and gets back to his feet.

master takes the fight into the clinch.

master comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
master lands a body shot.

master manages to break the clinch.
Hilder misses with a takedown

and master counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hilder's guard now.

Hilder is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

master is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
A body shot lands from master.
master lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hilder backwards.

master breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hilder shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and master counters with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
master misses with a body kick.
Hilder tries for a takedown but master circles away easily

and master counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

master content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
master wants to stand up but Hilder has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hilder makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hilder.
Hilder wants to sweep here but master controlling him for the moment.

master stands and steps away. Hilder gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hilder shoots in looking for a takedown. master tries to sprawl out of it but Hilder keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. master manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Hilder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hilder tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but master swivels and escapes.

master moves in looking to clinch but Hilder pushes him off.
master misses with a series of wild punches.
punch master seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hilder fails with the takedown.
Hilder takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
master closes the distance but Hilder moves to the side

and Hilder counters with a shoot takedown. master fights it but they end up in guard.

master is pulling down on Hilder's head to control his posture.
Hilder advances position into side control!
master is pushing Hilder's head away, looking to escape. Hilder manages to hold on to the position though.
master struggling a bit here.

Hilder is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, master has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hilder is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but master is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hilder tries to move into full mount but can't pass master's legs.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
master controls the position for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hilder thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hilder is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, master has escaped the position, nice work there.
master manages to get back to half guard.
Justin Hilder has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
master is trying is best to control the position here.

And that's the end of the fight!

I've got master winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
