Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Risley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Van De Velde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter Risley could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Robert Van De Velde's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hunter Risley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Van De Velde!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Risley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Risley content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Van De Velde wants to get back to his feet but Risley drags him back down.
Van De Velde looks winded!
Van De Velde stops Risley from passing to mount.
Van De Velde is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Risley takes a little break here. Van De Velde wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Van De Velde gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The referee warns Van De Velde that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Risley postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Van De Velde looks a forlorn figure.

Risley stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Risley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Van De Velde swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Risley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Van De Velde throws a head kick that half lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Risley tries a head kick but it misses.
Van De Velde looks to clinch

and Risley counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Van De Velde's guard now.
Risley advances to half guard.
Risley wants to free his trapped foot but Van De Velde is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Risley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Van De Velde defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Risley keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Risley decides to return to a standing position.
Risley misses with a head kick.
Van De Velde shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Risley eats them both and turns towards Van De Velde to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Risley shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Van De Velde manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Risley is pushing down on Van De Velde's leg trying to pass to half guard. Van De Velde is fighting to maintain full guard but Risley has managed to sneak the leg through.

Risley decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
We've been informed that Van De Velde has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Van De Velde throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Risley instigates a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Van De Velde prevents the takedown attempt.
Risley has been working on his balance at Average Joes, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Van De Velde.

Van De Velde's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Van De Velde - that will leave a mark!

Risley shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Van De Velde manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Risley shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Risley showed some decent athleticism there.
Van De Velde wants to get back to his feet.

Risley is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hunter Risley just wasn't active enough.
Van De Velde swats away the attempt to clinch by Risley.
Risley swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Van De Velde counters with a head kick. That will keep Risley thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Risley dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Risley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Van De Velde is looking to clinch but Risley is avoiding it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Risley on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Van De Velde. Van De Velde obviously looking to wear him down.
Hunter Risley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Risley tries to clinch there but Van De Velde circles away.
Van De Velde scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Risley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Van De Velde manages to avoid it.
Van De Velde dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Risley. That did some damage!

Van De Velde gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Risley to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Van De Velde is working an open guard so Risley takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Risley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Risley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Risley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Van De Velde, up you get!

Van De Velde throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Risley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Van De Velde pushes Risley away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Risley gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Risley controls the position.
Risley landing a few strikes.
Risley content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Risley decides to stand back up. Risley steps back and let's Van De Velde get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Risley dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Risley shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Van De Velde manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hunter Risley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Risley is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Risley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Risley pushing down on Van De Velde's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Risley slows the pace down in half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Van De Velde tries to kick Risley off in order to stand up. Risley Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
A lull in the action here.
Risley lands a decent elbow from side control.

Risley working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Risley prevents Van De Velde from escaping the position.
Risley remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Risley lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Van De Velde down.
Van De Velde is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Risley is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Risley passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Van De Velde!
Van De Velde is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Risley has taken his back!
Risley has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Van De Velde's body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hunter Risley showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Risley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
