Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marvin Barry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kent Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marvin Barry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kent Ortega! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barry fails with an attempt to clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Barry.
It looks like Kent Ortega has been cut. Barry throws a head kick that misses. Barry misses with the combination.
Ortega swats away the attempt to clinch by Barry. Barry pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ortega shoots in for a double leg but Barry sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Nice takedown defense from Barry. No joy for Ortega on that attempt. Barry tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ortega dodges the punch combination from Barry.
Marvin Barry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barry is looking to clinch but Ortega is avoiding it.
Barry misses with a takedown attempt and Ortega counters with a single leg into guard. Barry didn't expect that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ortega wants to pass the guard but Barry is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega prevents Barry from getting back to his feet. Ortega is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Barry is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Barry has escaped and now he's on top! Barry tries to free his leg and advance position but Ortega is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barry trying to control the position from guard on top but Ortega is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ortega can do anything to dispel that myth. Barry preventing the sweep. Ortega throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Barry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ortega swivels though and keeps the full guard. Barry won't allow Ortega to sweep him here. Ortega looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ortega is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Barry distracts Ortega with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Barry moves into the clinch successfully.

Barry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ortega throws a strike but Barry rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Ortega keeping moving, preventing Barry from controlling successfully. Ortega has his foot on Barry's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barry works his way back into a safe position though. Barry trying to control but Ortega is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortega throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Barry stands up and waves to Ortega to follow him. Barry throws a head kick but Ortega moves out of range.
A punch combination from Barry misses. Ortega looks for a takedown but Barry sprawls well. Marvin Barry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kent Ortega. Barry changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Ortega circles away from the clinch attempt and Ortega counters with a takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barry is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Ortega cracks Barry with a big elbow. Ortega looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Barry is avoiding damage well.
Sloppy strikes there by Ortega. Ortega tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Ortega working the ground and pound from side control. Barry takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Barry is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Barry on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Barry is trying to get back to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ortega tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ortega has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Barry is trying to escape and get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kent Ortega dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kent Ortega's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Barry has his takedown stuffed and Ortega counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Ortega missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Barry manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Barry tries to control but Ortega wriggling away. Barry landing strikes from the mount. Ortega tries to reverse the position but Barry maintains control. Barry postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ortega looks a forlorn figure.
Barry jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ortega is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ortega and Barry has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Ortega is looking to reverse the position. Ortega is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega manages to get back to half guard. Barry looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Ortega is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Barry pulls his head out easily. Barry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ortega keeps working. Ortega throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Ortega is looking for a sweep. Barry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ortega missing with punches from the bottom.
Ortega is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Barry's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Barry's back! Barry takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Ortega lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Ortega.
Ortega is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Barry up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortega is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Ortega gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Ortega gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Ortega apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Barry is rocked! Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ortega thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kent Ortega has got the better of the ground game so far. Barry is staying active underneath Ortega, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Barry is in trouble now - Ortega has advanced to mount! Ortega connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barry really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Barry is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Ortega sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Ortega with shots to the head and body - Barry looks very uncomfortable down there. Barry is trying desperately to improve position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Barry is bucking up trying to escape but Ortega cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Ortega misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Barry sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Barry looking for submissions off his back. Ortega tries to pass the half guard into mount. Barry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Barry wants to get back to full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ortega is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Barry is trying to stand back up but Ortega is controlling him

Ortega is looking for a kimura but Barry is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ortega to get the leverage. Ortega misses with a head shot. Barry uses the momentum to regain guard. Barry is looking to stand up but Ortega isn't so interested in that idea. Barry striking off his back. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ortega throws a strike but Barry rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Barry keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Barry tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ortega swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barry throws a right and a left that both miss. Barry goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Barry throws a shot from downtown. Ortega moves away and avoids it. Ortega circles away from the clinch attempt and Ortega counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Barry! Ortega fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Barry sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ortega connects with a nice short shot to Barry's temple.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barry is trying to maintain the position but Ortega is very close to passing his half guard. Barry manages to get to full guard.

Ortega trying to control the position from guard on top but Barry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Marvin Barry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ortega shoots for a double leg takedown but Barry sprawls well. He's pushed Ortega's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Kent Ortega comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Ortega winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
