Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Demetrius Colrane! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Kampmann! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Colrane doesn't manage to clinch there - Kampmann circles away.
Colrane wants to clinch and Kampmann counters with a good, hard body kick but Colrane shrugs it off. Kampmann scores with a shot to the body.
Colrane ducks right into an uppercut from Kampmann. Kampmann moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kampmann closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Colrane tries to stall but Kampmann uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Kampmann lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Colrane backwards. Kampmann misses with a punch to the body.
Kampmann pushes Colrane back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Colrane is rocked! We've been informed that Kampmann has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Kampmann leaning against his opponent.
Oh Colrane is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kampmann pushes Colrane against the cage. Kampmann is working some dirty boxing. Kampmann pushes off with a quick right hook! Colrane goes down! Colrane tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Kampmann moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Kampmann! Our winner, Chris Kampmann, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans. Demetrius Colrane spoke after the fight, saying 'He got lucky, I can beat him any day this was a fluk and in a rematch I'd smash his face in'.
