Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowens throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Melvin gets a double leg takedown into Bowens's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bowens enables Melvin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bowens manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Bowens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Melvin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Melvin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bowens swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Melvin stalks Bowens and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bowens's face. Bowens staggers backwards, shaken.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tyron Melvin.
Well Melvin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
