PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Messer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross comes to the cage accompanied by Swedish House Mafia-One. Mark Messer told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Ross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Messer!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Messer digs a good body shot into Ross's ribs.
Ross throws a nice looking combination but Messer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Messer.
Ross fails with an attempt to clinch.

Messer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Messer is taking a breather. Ross says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mark Messer hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Messer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Messer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ross manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Messer controls from within his opponent's guard.

Ross uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Messer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Messer in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Ross is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
