Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Don Carlton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thor Boschat! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlton misses with a double jab.
Carlton takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Carlton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carlton moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Boschat jabbing away but nothing is landing. Carlton uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Boschat. Boschat jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carlton on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Carlton is rocked! Carlton closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Carlton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Boschat is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Carlton scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Boschat to see if he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boschat is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Carlton trying to control the position but Boschat is working away. Boschat wants to get back to his feet but Carlton drags him back down. Carlton working the head and body with strikes. Carlton lands some shots froms side control. Carlton is trying to get an arm triangle but Boschat is defending well. Boschat really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carlton takes a little break here. Boschat wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Carlton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlton is putting a hurting on Boschat here, landing some big shots from side control. Carlton is chipping away with strikes.
Carlton connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Boschat some visible discomfort.
Carlton landing strikes. Carlton has an Americana. Boschat didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Carlton is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Carlton hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Don Carlton!
