Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Aristides Leopoldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leopoldo comes to the cage accompanied by Carmina Burana - Carl Orff. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Aristides Leopoldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pedro Aristides Leopoldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leopoldo tries to avoid it but Mir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leopoldo to the ground. Leopoldo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Leopoldo wants to clinch but Mir slips to the side and Mir decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Leopoldo's guard. Leopoldo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Leopoldo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mir slips nicely into half guard. Mir is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Mir wants to finish this one by submission but Leopoldo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Mir. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mir swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Leopoldo is now in Mir's guard. A big mistake from Mir there, giving up the dominant position! Mir has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Leopoldo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Leopoldo defends it easily. Leopoldo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mir looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Leopoldo wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving. Mir is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Leopoldo is aware though and is defending well. Mir is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Mir is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Leopoldo has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir lands with a punch from half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Leopoldo trying to control but Mir postures up.
Leopoldo is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Den of Tears (22 coaches, $175 fee), so we'll see if he gets out of it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Mir is trying to work for a kimura but Leopoldo is defending well.

Mir seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Leopoldo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mir is stalling here. Leopoldo is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mir seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Leopoldo has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Leopoldo lands a nice forearm strike. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leopoldo is looking to take a break and control but Mir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Leopoldo wants to stand but Mir has his arm trapped. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mir is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Leopoldo is just riding it out for now. Mir eventually gives up the hold. Leopoldo tries to kick Mir off but Mir keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Mir dominated that round. That's time! Leopoldo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mir is looking to clinch. Leopoldo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mir moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Leopoldo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mir swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mir checks a leg kick nicely. Mir changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Leopoldo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Leopoldo is trying to get back to half guard. Leopoldo is trying to escape the position but Mir is controlling the position. Mir has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Leopoldo! Leopoldo is desperately trying to improve his position but Mir has a good base and remains in mount. Leopoldo is bucking up trying to escape but Mir cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Mir trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mir wants to finish this one by submission but Leopoldo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Mir.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
