Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sam Seed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xia Yaj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seed comes to the cage accompanied by Drunken Master. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Seed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Xia Yaj!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yaj moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Seed pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Yaj tries to clinch there but Seed circles away.
Seed looks to throw the jab but Yaj is out of range.
Yaj throws a low kick, looking for Seed's leg but Seed calmly moves out of range.

Seed closes the distance and clinches.
Seed trying to stall but Yaj improves his position.
I was talking to Seed's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Seed tries to break the clinch but Yaj is controlling the position.
Seed tries to work over Yaj's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Seed tries to stall but Yaj uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Yaj tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Seed wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Yaj has him pressed against the cage.
Yaj is looking to break free of the clinch but Seed has double underhooks.

Yaj has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Seed uses from the top position.
Seed throws a big elbow that misses.
Yaj is trying to control the position but Seed postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yaj can do anything to dispel that myth.

Seed postures up and lands a big shot to Yaj's brow.
Seed wants to control from the top but Yaj keeps moving.
Yaj looking to control.
Yaj is trying to hold Seed in close to prevent damage but Seed has managed to pass into half guard.
Seed wants to free his trapped foot but Yaj is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Yaj really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Seed. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Yaj is doing well to control the position and prevent Seed from advancing to side control.
Seed has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Seed is working for a kimura but Yaj is defending it quite comfortably.

Yaj is not content to let Seed control the position.
Seed is pressing down on Yaj's thigh, looking to free his foot. Yaj is holding on for now.
Seed passes to side control.
Yaj struggling a bit here.
Seed trying to control the position but Yaj is working away.

Seed creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Yaj is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Seed off and has taken his back!

Yaj looking to break Seed's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Seed remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Yaj will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Seed rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Yaj not doing much here.
Seed is looking to improve his position.
Seed regains full guard. Nicely done.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Seed is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Seed is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seed defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Yaj.
Yaj's coach down at Sensei Sens's & co. Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Yaj's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Seed shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Seed was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Yaj is pushing Seed's head away, looking to escape. Seed manages to hold on to the position though.
Yaj wants to control but Seed postures up.
Yaj is looking to regain half guard here but Seed keeps moving and retains side control.
The ground and pound from Seed seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Seed connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Yaj some visible discomfort.

Seed trying to control the action but Yaj is working from the bottom.
Yaj is trying to improve his position.
Seed scores with a couple of short elbows.
Seed wants to control but Yaj is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yaj is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Seed lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Yaj is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Seed moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Yaj.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Seed working the head with strikes.
Seed is working Yaj over with some ground and pound from side control.
Yaj is not content to let Seed control the position.
Yaj is trying to control Seed's posture but Seed avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Seed throws a strike aimed at the side of Yaj's head but Yaj avoids it well.
Seed tries to score with some ground and pound. Yaj controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Seed is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yaj is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Yaj is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Seed cracks Yaj with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Yaj is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Yaj is trying to get back to half guard.

Yaj wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Seed has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Yaj's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Yaj is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Seed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Sam Seed!
Our winner, Sam Seed, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
