PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Razor Maya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Purple Aki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Aki's choice of entrance music: Slim Whitman - Indian Love Call. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maya lands with a thumping leg kick.
Maya fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Aki.
Razor Maya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Aki takes the fight into the clinch.
Aki tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Aki misses with a knee to the head.
Maya avoiding damage as Aki throws knees to the body.
Aki is trying to stall.
Maya prevents a body shot from Aki.
Aki can't find room to land a body shot as Maya controls the action.

Maya manages to break the clinch.
Maya connects with an inside leg kick.
Maya moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Maya.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maya connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Maya throws a low kick, looking for Aki's leg but Aki calmly moves out of range.
Maya lands a jab to the nose.
Aki on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Maya. Maya obviously looking to wear him down.
Maya throws a head kick that misses.
Maya clobbers Aki with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Maya throws the kick towards the body but Aki avoids it.
A head kick misses from Maya.
Aki takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Aki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A thudding body kick lands there by Maya!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maya lands with a kick to the ribs.
Aki looks winded!
Maya lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Maya cracks Aki with an uppercut from hell and Aki crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Maya's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

Aki is rocked!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Maya works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Maya keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Aki seems to have recovered his senses.
Maya tries to pass the half guard into mount. Aki knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Aki wants to improve his position but Maya is controlling well.
Maya seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Aki does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Maya seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Razor Maya.
Maya misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Aki misses with a low kick.

Aki closes the distance and clinches.
Aki tries to work over Maya's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Aki has Maya pressed against the ropes, preventing Maya from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Aki stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Nice body punch from Aki - that landed with a thud.
Aki tries a body shot but Maya blocks it.
Maya tries to pull guard but Aki holds him up against the ropes and eventually Maya drops back down to his feet.
Aki crunches a lovely knee into Maya's ribcage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aki using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Maya has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Aki manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Maya looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Maya breaks the clinch.
Maya throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Maya avoids the body shot from Aki.
Maya throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Aki throws a big shot that misses.
Aki throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Maya makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Aki really felt that one!

A nice inside leg kick there by Maya. That's going to slow Aki down.

Some bone on bone action there as Aki checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Aki throws a body punch but Maya moves out of range.
Maya tries to score with a low kick but Aki moves his leg out of the way.
Maya tests Aki's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Maya looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A clash of legs there as Aki blocks the low kick.
Maya steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Aki.

Aki clinches up with Maya and pushes him back against the ropes.
Aki is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Maya is defending well for now.

Aki tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Maya avoids it.

Maya breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Aki fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Maya chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Aki throws a lazy right hand but Maya sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Maya throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Maya throws a sloppy head kick and Aki moves out of range easily.
Maya is looking to slow Aki down with leg kicks.
Maya avoids the body shot from Aki.
A low kick from Maya misses
and Aki counters with a leg kick.
Maya throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Aki's head.
Maya throws a hook but Aki avoids it easily.
Maya is looking to chop away at Aki's legs.
Aki fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Aki throws a head kick but Maya moves out of range.
Aki swings for the body but Maya moves out of range.
Aki walks into a stiff left hand from Maya.
Maya misses with a low kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Maya.

Maya throws a hook to the side of Aki's head but Aki sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Maya misses with a hook. Aki ducked under it nicely.
Maya connects with a solid leg kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Aki blocks the leg kick.
Maya throws a jab when Aki was well out of range.

Aki rushes Maya and presses him up against the ropes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Aki is trying to maintain a safe position but Maya gets an underhook and turns Aki into the ropes.

Maya manages to break the clinch.
Maya fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Maya throws a one two combo.
Aki paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Maya misses with a head kick.
Aki's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Aki just misses with a punch to the body.
Aki defending well as Maya loads up on a big left hand.
Aki misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Aki lands a slapping body shot.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Nice jab there from Maya.
Maya walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Aki checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Aki doesn't manage to clinch there - Maya circles away.
Maya throws out a leg kick but Aki moves out of range and Maya only half commits.

and Aki counters with a nice low kick that buckles Maya's knee momentarily.

Maya misses with a leg kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Maya throws a head kick but Aki moves out of range.
Aki fails in his attempt to clinch.

Aki lands a left and a right that send Maya crashing to the mat, dazed. Aki thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Razor Maya dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Maya throws a leg kick that is checked

and Aki counters by clinching up.

It looks like Razor Maya has been cut.
Aki misses with an elbow over the top.
Aki keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Maya's efforts to push away.
Maya lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Maya wants to get back to striking at distance but Aki won't allow it.
Aki stalls.
Aki creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Maya's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Maya drops to his knees and Aki pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Purple Aki!
